The most well-known (though not the only) area to witness the internationally recognised Dutch flowers up close is Bollenstreek, also known as the “flower-bulb” region. The fields of tulips, in full bloom every spring, provide breathtaking views. If you drive through the flower-bulb region, you will frequently come across flower stalls with fresh flowers and bulbs along the road.

The Flower Bulb Region is a distinctive region sandwiched between the vibrant cities of Randstad. Large fields brimming with vibrant flowers can be found there. Explore this area on a bicycle, stroll through the fields, take stunning images of flowers, and locate a table on a terrace in one of the charming villages.

The largest flower-related event in the Flower Bulb Region is the yearly flower parade. Dozens of motorised floats follow a route from Noordwijk to Haarlem. The floats, made of thousands of flowers, symbolise unique creations. After they arrive, they are available for one day of free viewing at Grote Markt Square in Haarlem.

Because of my passion, I decided to make writing my life, and with that, I decided to study BA Languages at the University of Pretoria and am happy to report that I made my dream come true by graduating and becoming a travel writer. During my final year I wrote for my campus newspaper, the PDBY, where I learned to trust my writing voice. Now, as I sit here writing my petit little bio, I feel more in love with writing than I’ve ever been. Turns out, like much of my personality, my writing can equally showcase both the calm and put-together, as well as the crazy.
