Lake Cruises In Magical Switzerland

Did you know that one of the most ideal activities with the right balance between fun and exercise is a lake cruise? I bet you didn’t. Luckily, I love to be the bearer of good news. Overall, a calming lake cruise with stunning views is the perfect way to unwind and I’m sure you agree with me. The only thing better than a lake cruise is a lake cruise in beautiful Switzerland. So come along as we dive into some lake cruises that allow you to relax while being surrounded by stunning scenery.

1. Lake Thun Cruise in Bernese Oberland

Go on a relaxing lake cruise on Lake Bernese Oberland, Switzerland

Lake Thun is the largest lake in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. Bernese Oberland is known for its crisp greener, the famous Alps and the white peaks of Mount Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.

Are you ready for an unforgettable experience? A boat trip on the blue waters of Lake Thun between the mountains in Bernese Oberland is definitely just that. To allow you to soak up all the views surrounding the clear lake and the lake itself, the cruise lasts for two hours. What takes this cruise to another level is the fine cuisine that’s served while floating about. Enjoy your meal while being surrounded by castles on the banks and the mountains of Switzerland.

During the summer and between Christmas and New Year, the steamship Blümlisalp makes its way across Lake Thun yearly. All that’s left for you to do is choose the cruise that fits with your itinerary. Usually, the boat leaves from Interlaken West, along the Neuhaus Nature Reserve, towards St. Beatus Caves. So, it’s quite obvious that you experience Switzerland’s natural beauty in all its glory. Hurry and book your trip, this is one cruise you don’t want to miss out on!

2. Three Lakes Cruise – Lake Biel in Murten

Hit the waters with the iconic Three Lakes Cruise Lake Biel in Switzerland

As the title suggests, this is a cruise that takes place on three separate lakes that are all must-see. The entire area surrounding the three lakes, Lakes Biel, Neuchâtel and Murten, is known as The Three Lake District. Essentially, all lakes are connected via Broye, Zihl, and Aare Rivers. Locals sum the area up as a landscape of gentle hills. Additionally, what makes this area so breathtaking is the overwhelming amount of vineyards and vegetable crops surrounding the lakes.

I’m sure by now you’re persuaded to go on the three-lake tour. However, we still need to get into the nitty-gritty details. The total duration of the cruise that covers all three lakes is 3 hours and 15 minutes. Unlike the previous cruise, food is not included in this trip. However, catering services are available on the cruise. Actually, the boat is equipped with a fully functioning restaurant.

Furthermore, the cruise takes place every day from April to October. But during winter, the cruise is only available on Sundays. Your only responsibility is to buy tickets on the Swiss Travel System website. You can’t reserve specific seats, it’s first come first serve. So make sure you’re early if you want to secure specific seats.

3. Lugano Lake Cruises in Ticino Canton

Go on a cruise on Lugano Lake in Switzerland

The final lake we’ll look at is Lugano Lake, which, in my opinion, is one of the most incredible lakes in Switzerland. The cruise on Lugano Lake is executed by the very first electrical boat, the Ceresio 1931, in Switzerland. Essentially, the boat is part of the cancellation of climate emissions by 2050 movement. So, not only is it great for your soul but also for the environment.

Anyway, the main attraction (as seen in the image) is Gandria, a romantic little town nestled on the banks of Lake Lugano. Also, on the opposite side of the lake is the Museum of Swiss Customs. What makes this museum exciting is the fact that it can only be reached and visited by boat.

What makes this cruise unique is that you decide how long it takes. It ranges from 30 minutes to an entire day. It all depends on what places you would want to visit and how long you want to be out on the water. So, if you’re ready to relax and immerse yourself in Switzerland, book a cruise!
