The tennis courts at Wimbledon Park are perfect if you haven’t used your racquet in a while. Wimbledon Park is a must-visit on its own. Conveniently, book online and play tennis at the courts without other players watching you. In total, there are 18 tennis courts to choose from for your next round of tennis. Courts one to ten are floodlit astroturf tennis courts, for us non-tennis-geniuses, that’s artificial grass. And then courts 11 to 20 are tarmac courts. Those are the original tennis courts we see on tv.

However, you need to be a member to make a booking. Luckily the membership is completely free, it just allows the council to prepare the courts, if need be, before your arrival. You can be assured that all the courts are in great condition. Also, you get a bit of exercise while participating in the sport that the town is known for. It’s a no-brainer.

Additionally, relax and grab something to eat from the outdoor bar and café that prepares fresh food and cakes. While you’re relaxing after your game, why not watch other players as the café looks out to the courts? And if you’re still in the mood for more tennis, enjoy a game of table tennis indoors.

Southfields Lawn Tennis Club is situated near West Hill and is a well-known local landmark that’s been in Wimbledon for over 120 years. Unlike the other clubs, they have fewer courts. In total there are six hard courts, one of which uses artificial clay. Five of the courts are floodlit until 10 pm. Furthermore, two of them feature the latest LED court lighting technology.

Every year, from May up until July, the club hosts tennis events. Men and women singles and doubles are included in the event. In addition, an extremely popular winter singles ladder competition is held each year. Lastly, the main social event is the Finals Day party that you can’t miss. But if you’ve missed it, don’t worry, the club bar is open after each club session and has a great selection of drinks. So, even if you’re not feeling like tennis, you can still unwind and indulge in a drink.

Cottenham Park is located in Melbury Gardens, West Wimbledon. The park is a tranquil green scenic environment. Besides the playground and green grass perfect for families, there are tennis facilities. Members only can book courts one to four during club hours. However, grass courts A & B are closed for winter. The membership is free; however, you play as you pay. In other words, you pay a certain fee depending on the amount of time you play.

Nevertheless, Cottenham Park offers family tennis sessions to encourage families to play together. Families are allocated one session over a weekend, just remember to book your court. If you’re not yet sure about the family session and whether the kids are going to stick it out, there are junior and senior racquets and balls to borrow at the clubhouse.
