Come along as we embark on a unique wellness journey through the stunning vineyards of Portugal. Here, you will discover the perfect blend of mindfulness and entertainment on a wine tour like no other. Portugal is known for being a wine country and a trendy wine destination for tourists all over the world. And if you didn’t know, wine decreases stress hormones and effectively deals with unnecessary thoughts that can potentially cause anxiety and depression. So, let’s get those anxious thoughts under control and join me on some (virtual) wine tours through Portugal.
1. Quinta De Soalheiro – Winery
The first of several vinelands we will be touring is Quinta De Soalheiro. Grapevines were traditionally planted around the outskirts of a parcel. However, this wine farm started when João António Cerdeira decided to do something different in Melgaço. Instead of following the usual ways, he planted a whole piece of land with Alvarinho grapes without any breaks. Today, even the third generation of the family still upholds this creative and forward-thinking attitude.
At Soalheiro, be fully immersed in the wine farm through harvest experiences, wine tours and tastings, and herbal tea tastings. In this instance, we’ll look at some wine tours and tastings you shouldn’t miss. The most popular tour will let you fall in love with Alvarinho, the place where started it all. Enjoy a ‘classic’ expression of the varietal with a tasting of Soalheiro Alvarinho (Clássico), their most recognised wine. Visit the first continuous vineyard of Alvarinho in Melgaço. Followed by a visit to the old family garage where Soalheiro started.
Furthermore, learn about the various winemaking processes to amplify the diversity of the territory where the grapes grow. Then, go up to the terrace and take in the breathtaking view over River Minho’s valley. Now, what you’ve been waiting for, the tasting. Also, you have the opportunity to taste The Pur Terroir herbal teas. Lastly, make sure to reserve a spot beforehand and enjoy the feeling of all your worries disappearing.

2. Vale De Cortém Vinhos Biologicos
The visit to Vinhos Cortém is an amazing experience for everyone. They are renowned for beautiful vineyards and great quality wine. All the wine tours are led by their very knowledgeable wine team. Also, the guide takes you through their vineyards and winery. Moreover, gain knowledge about the process of winemaking and the methods involved in it, including fermentation and ageing of wines. Taste three or six of their best wines along with some olives and bread.
The natural beauty of the place perfectly complements the wine-tasting experience. These tastings will keep you busy for about three hours, that’s if you want to leave. So make sure to have your morning or afternoon open. Once again, make sure to secure a spot by booking in advance.
3. Quinta do Vales Wine Estate
Whether you are looking for a good time for yourself or for your family and friends, look no further, you are at the right place. If you’re looking for entertainment, informative workshops or simply a sip of wine, name it and Quinta do Vales has it. First, the wine estate boasts a Winemaker Experience. Essentially, this experience is a hands-on project, which aims to turn wine-lovers into genuine wine-makers. Basically, what the estate offers is to guide you through the full wine-production process.
Next, their wine tastings are some of the best. So, book a winery tour and wine-tasting tour where an experienced team member will disclose most of the secrets of the wine production. After that, you’ll tour around the barrel cellar, a place where Quinta do Vales’ red wines get better as they age for about a year. Needless to say, wine is not the only attraction Quinta dos Vales offers. You can also walk around their beautiful gardens filled with sculptures. Ultimately, it’s a place where art and wine come together perfectly. Don’t miss this winery.
